Terms of Use
Last updated: March 13, 2026
What this is
likeu is a platform for people who care about things they can't easily talk about — and want to find others who get it. We're in our early phase, learning what this should be through real conversations.
By using likeu, including talking to Dora, you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree, that's okay — just don't use the platform.
Who can use likeu
You must be 18 or older to use likeu. We don't currently verify age, but by using the platform you're confirming you're at least 18.
If you're under 18 and you've already started a conversation with Dora, please email us at hello@likeuapp.com. We won't be upset — we'll handle it respectfully and delete your data if you'd like.
What Dora is (and isn't)
Dora is the first conversation on likeu. She's designed to listen well, ask good questions, and help us understand what you carry and what kind of connection you need.
Dora is not:
- A therapist or counselor
- A crisis service
- A substitute for professional mental health support
Dora is AI, and that's on purpose — so nothing you say is ever overheard, repeated, or sold. She can be wrong, miss context, or respond imperfectly. We work hard to make her sensitive and careful, but we can't guarantee every response will land right. If she says something that feels off or harmful, please tell us at hello@likeuapp.com.
If you're in crisis, please reach out to people trained to help:
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988
- RAINN: 1-800-656-4673
What you share
Everything you tell Dora belongs to you. We don't claim ownership of your words.
By using likeu, you give us permission to:
- Store your conversation in our database
- Process it with AI (Anthropic's Claude) to generate Dora's responses and extract themes and patterns
- Read your conversation as a team — we do this to understand what people need, improve Dora, and find connections between people. We won't publish your words or share them outside the team.
- Extract a profile from your conversation — structured dimensions like what you carry, what you're looking for, your pacing needs. If we use this to connect you with someone, you'll review and approve what's shared before anyone else sees it.
- Use anonymized, aggregated patterns to improve the platform — these are never individually identifiable
In rooms, we also collect usage signals to improve how Dora helps you find the right words. This includes which posts you viewed and for how long, whether you opened the composer, and how your Dora conversations went (including AI-generated engagement scores and intent signals). We use this to make Dora more helpful over time — not to judge you or share your behavior with the other person in your room.
We will never sell your data. We will never publish your conversation. We will never use your words in marketing without your explicit permission.
Connecting people
We plan to connect people who carry similar things — not by labels, but by the shape of what they described to Dora. This isn't live yet, but when it is:
- We'll build a profile from your Dora conversation
- You'll see what we heard and can edit or correct anything
- You'll approve the profile before it's used to find your people
- Only your approved profile is shared with potential connections — never the raw conversation
- You can opt out of being connected at any time
Group spaces
We create small, private rooms for connected people. In rooms:
- What happens in the room stays in the room. Sharing content outside the room — screenshots, copy-paste, forwarding — will result in removal.
- Dora is available but private. You can talk to Dora in your room to help figure out what to say. Those conversations are between you and Dora — the other person never sees them. We analyze Dora room conversations to improve how she helps people.
- We collect engagement signals in rooms (post views, time spent, composer activity) to understand how the space is being used and improve it. This data is never shared with anyone in your room or made visible to other users.
- We reserve the right to remove anyone from a room at any time for safety reasons.
- During the early phase, the team may review room conversations to learn what works and keep the space safe. We'll tell you this before you join.
Safety
We take safety seriously, especially given what people share on this platform.
What we do:
- Dora is designed to provide crisis resources when a conversation touches on active danger
- When Dora provides crisis resources, that session is flagged for team review
- We review flagged sessions to make sure people are getting the support they need
What we may be required to do:
- If someone discloses active abuse or harm to a child, we may be legally required to report it to the appropriate authorities
- If this happens, we will only share the minimum information required
- We understand this is a significant statement for a platform built around trust. We believe being honest about this upfront is more trustworthy than burying it.
What we can't do:
- We can't guarantee real-time human intervention. Dora is an AI, not a staffed hotline.
- We can't guarantee the safety of every interaction between connected users.
- We can't prevent someone from being dishonest about who they are.
If you ever feel unsafe on likeu, email us immediately at hello@likeuapp.com.
Things you agree not to do
- Share other people's content from likeu outside the platform
- Use likeu to identify, locate, or contact someone outside the platform
- Impersonate another person
- Use Dora or the platform to harm, manipulate, or exploit others
- Attempt to extract personal information about other users
- Use automated tools to access the platform
We'll address violations case by case. Serious violations — attempting to identify or contact someone, sharing others' disclosures — result in immediate removal.
Informational content
Some pages on likeu provide educational information — for example, about recognizing grooming, supporting someone in crisis, or understanding isolation. This content is for general awareness only. It is not professional, legal, medical, or therapeutic advice.
If you need professional guidance, please consult a qualified professional. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, contact emergency services (911) or the crisis resources listed on our pages.
External resources and links
likeu links to external organizations and crisis resources. We provide these links because they may be helpful, but we do not operate or control those services. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or the quality of support they provide.
Our limitations
likeu is provided as-is. We're a small team building something new. The platform may have bugs, downtime, or unexpected behavior. Dora may say something imperfect. Features may change as we learn.
We are not liable for emotional distress that may result from conversations with Dora or interactions with other users. We are not a substitute for professional support. We build with care, but we can't control every outcome.
Your rights
- Stop anytime. You can close the conversation with Dora at any point.
- Don't share your email. It's optional. We'll never require it.
- Delete your data. Email privacy@likeuapp.com and we'll delete your conversation, extracted insights, room engagement data, Dora room sessions, and email within 30 days.
- Opt out of being connected. If we reach out about a connection, you can say no. No pressure, no consequences.
- Leave a group. If you're in a group space and want out, you can leave at any time.
One exception to deletion: If your data is part of a legal obligation (like a mandatory report), we may be required to retain it. We'll tell you if that's the case.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as likeu evolves. If we make significant changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If we have your email, we'll notify you of major changes.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes will be resolved in courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
